Hooker and Heat

OK - We'll start with one of my favorite blues recordings of all time. Back in the early seventies I was a huge fan of the band Canned Heat. I was young and didn't know what blues was at the time; heck, it was all rock and roll to me. Although a fan of Heat, I somehow didn't discover this recording until a few years ago, and what a discovery it was! What a perfect compliment Canned Heat is for John Lee Hooker's unique brand of boogie inspired blues. John Lee clearly directs the music while Canned Heat just plays inspired music behind the great master. If you've never heard this masterpiece and are a fan of the blues, you owe it to yourself to check it out - you'll be glad you did! Check it out here: Hooker and Heat |
