Music and Blues Related Resources and Generally Cool Sites
Archive.org - A great place to legally download free shows from a varied selection of artists is Archive.org. As many of you may or may not know, a lot of artists allow taping of their live shows and distribution of these recordings as long as it they are not being sold. Check it out!
Wolfgangsvault.com - Several years ago after Bill Graham (the owner of the Fillmore's East and West) died they found tons of swag from all of the shows from the 60's on up. In addition to some great posters and t-shirts they found recordings from many of the shows. While not all are available to download yet, they are streaming the shows for free at wolfgangsvault.com. The shows that are available for download are $9.98 - not too bad for piece of history. Be sure to check out the phenomenal shows from the Muddy Waters Band and James Cotton.
Piedmont Blues Preservation Society - I know I have a link to teir site on the friends page, but I would be remiss if I didn't stress the importance of this fine organization what what they've done to support blues in the Triad. The annual blues concert the organize is the stuff of legends, and they are constantly working to sponsor blues shows in the area. Please visit them at Piedmont Blues Preservation Society. While your there, why not consider joining this worthwhile organization.
WQFS Blues Show - Our good friend Mike Caudle hosts the WQFS Blues Show every Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on WQFS, 90.9 FM, from Guilford College.
Sugarmegs - Thanks to my brother Jim for reminding me about Sugarmegs, another great resource for live shows of bands that allow taping and trading of shows.
